Carlos Tafur

I am currently a senior at Rice University in Houston, Texas where I am set to graduate with a degree in Sport Management in May 2021. I have a strong interest in the gaming and entertainment industries and am seeking a full time job in the greater Austin, TX area. Esports has captivated me since I was first introduced to it in 2015 as a way to connect and socialize with friends and players around the world, and during my time at Rice, I have gained 3+ years of experience in production as well as 1 year of experience in esports operations.

About Me

As a Sport Management student at Rice University, I have been exposed to a number of unique opportunities. As an Esports Intern at Mainline.GG, I have gained experience in esports tournament administration and moderating as well as promotional video editing and client services. As a Production and Marketing Assistant at the Moody Center for the Arts, I have put my studies to practice and acquired experience in live event production and marketing strategy. Additionally, I have had the opportunity to work with Sebastian Park of the Houston Rockets/Clutch Gaming to enrich my knowledge of and prepare me for a career in the esports industry.

The Moody Center for the Arts

At The Moody Center for the Arts, I assisted in a very wide variety of tasks. As Lead Production Assistant, I contributed to everything from exhibit installation to live production. I had several opportunities to develop my professional skills, including interpersonal communication, team leadership and management, and client service, to name a few. I have also gained thorough experience working with virtual reality equipment in a variety of applications. Working at the Moody Center has been an extremely rewarding experience for me as it has not only allowed me to continuously develop and apply these skills, but also given me the opportunity to work in an exciting and ever-changing multidisciplinary space.
